We are celebrating Vij Richards’ retirement from Trillium Health Partners (THP).
In her 15+ years working at THP, Vij has played an integral role in ensuring the support and safety of staff; offering 1:1 counselling, team debriefs, group and individual support sessions and several other vehicles of delivering high quality and compassionate care to staff.
Vij has always and continues to be an advocate for self-care. Vij believes that when staff can reach out to ask for help in a safe way, they are not only helping themselves lead better lives but indirectly they are then able to provide better services and cares.
Notably, in 2014, Vij participated in the Late Career Nursing Initiative – Keeping Ontario Healthy. As a seasoned nurse looking to share her skills to support mental health in the workplace, which is when she introduced Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) across the organization as a self- care tool for stress. She has taught hundreds of staff to tap, an easy to learn stress reduction technique that calms the nervous system in the moment.
She also recently published a book, “Shift Stress, Get Back to What You Do Best: Nurses, Caregiver and other Health Care Professionals” which demonstrates her dedication to caring for healthcare professionals. Over the course of the pandemic, Vij has been essential to supporting staff and developing resources and strategies to support people.
As a member of our NeftTi Community, we want to congratulate Vij on her retirement and the many successes in her career. We wish her the best as she takes new steps in her life journey.
