It started with a visit to a new auto mechanic for my 2010 Honda Civic, affectionately named BrownE. I had made an appointment three weeks ago to replace a piece of the exhaust system and, as is my habit, brought enough work to keep myself productive while waiting.
Arriving right on time, I greeted the owner and handed over my keys, politely inquiring about the estimated service time. To my surprise, I was met with a torrent of frustration and anger. The mechanic, clearly overwhelmed, implied that perhaps I was better suited for a dealership than his shop. His outburst was intense and directed squarely at me.
In the past, this would have sent my nervous system into overdrive, triggering a freeze response – a defense mechanism rooted in childhood experiences. I would have shut down, shifted into people-pleasing mode, and done everything to placate the situation, masking my internal turmoil with a façade of compliance.
But last Friday was different. Thanks to my consistent practice of Conscious EFT and energy work, I found myself remarkably calm and centered. My mind and body felt integrated, and I had the clarity to consider my next move deliberately. It was like time was standing still, no threat, no hurry, just curiosity about what would happen next.
What did I want? I wanted my car fixed by a reputable mechanic. I knew this person was well-respected in my small town, and despite his outburst, I had the capacity to respond with love and empathy.
I acknowledged his frustration: “Wow, sounds like you’ve had some difficult times. People can be really hard to deal with.” I shared a story about a favorite grocery clerk who had also been experiencing increased unkindness from customers. This wasn’t a quick fix—his rant continued but shifted away from me to other frustrations. With persistent kindness and understanding, our interaction eventually calmed, and we got back on track.
The service took two hours, during which I remained productive and satisfied with both the work I accomplished and the service provided. The mechanic even helped me document previous issues with the dealership and advised me on how to claim a rebate from Honda for the work he had just completed.
But beyond the practical outcomes, this experience was profoundly transformative for me. I recognized and overcame a deeply ingrained pattern of fear-based responses that had defined me for over sixty years. Instead of shutting down, I stayed centered and secure, allowing me to respond with genuine care and empathy.
This shift is a testament to the power of Conscious EFT. By consistently engaging in this practice, I have gradually moved along NeftTi’s Client Capacity Continuum, from a place of fear and reactivity to one of internal safety and empowered connection.

At NeftTi, we understand that human biology is driven by two imperatives: survival and growth. Conscious EFT provides the conditions for nervous system safety, allowing it to transition naturally into a state of growth. This experience is a reminder that with dedication and practice, it is possible to rewrite old patterns and embrace a new way of being—one that is calm, centered, and profoundly connected.
I am deeply grateful for this journey and the ongoing support of the NeftTi community. It is through our shared commitment to growth and healing that we can transform not only our lives but also the lives of those we touch.
So, even though both the mechanic and BrownE were having their rants that day: him with his frustrations, and BrownE with his loud exhaust, thanks to my Conscious EFT practice, I was able to stay calm while we all found our rhythm. Now, with a quieter exhaust from both of them, both BrownE and I are running smoothly!
