As we continue to explore the transformative power of Conscious EFT, I wanted to share a concept from renowned psychotherapist David Richo that deeply resonates with our practice.
David Richo speaks of the 5 A’s necessary for offering true love in a relationship: Attention, Acceptance, Appreciation, Affection, and Allowing. These principles are not just for romantic relationships but are foundational for all our relationships, including—and most importantly—the one we have with ourselves. These A’s are all part of self-love and self-compassion, which are foundationally crucial for our emotional and psychological well-being.
Let’s delve deeper into these:
- Attention: Giving ourselves undivided attention, listening to our inner voice and attending to our needs..
- Acceptance: Embracing who we are, how we think, feel and behave, without judgment.
- Appreciation: Recognizing and valuing our own worth and achievements.
- Affection: Being kind and gentle with ourselves.
- Allowing: Letting ourselves be who we are without trying to change our core essence.
These principles beautifully align with Conscious EFT emphasis on holistic and integrative healing, addressing the mind, body, emotions and spirit..
But as an ever-curious student of life, of course my mind starts thinking, “Why stop at 5 A’s when we can have 10?” (Always striving for more A’s, right?) So, I came up with five additional A’s to enrich our journey of self-love and enhance the quality of our relationships:
- Acknowledgment: Honoring our experiences and feelings, what is difficult and/or painful for us..
- Accountability: Taking responsibility for our actions and their impact on ourselves and others.
- Authenticity: Living in alignment with our true self, who we were created as..
- Adaptability: Being flexible and open to change.
- Aspiration: Encouraging and supporting our personal and professional dreams and desires.
One of the strongest principles of Conscious EFT is that our capacity to facilitate healing for others emerges from our capacity to facilitate healing and growth for ourselves.
OOH! I’ve created an equation!! A new version of the A B C’s!
The energy of the A’s Becomes our Capacity to serve.
Let’s continue to embrace these principles, both in our practice and in our lives, as we grow together in this wonderful community.
With love and appreciation,
Nancy
