You Deserve Love: A Message of Progress, Growth and Belonging

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends! As I reflect on this holiday season, my thoughts turn to the Statue of Liberty, standing tall in New York Harbor. Years ago, I had the privilege of sailing on the Queen Mary from England to New York. On our last morning, we woke at 5am to witness the first glimpse of this magnificent statue. The energy, the tears, the connection with others huddling together in those early morning moments continues to resonate with me today.

The words of Emma Lazarus inscribed at the base of the Statue speak volumes:

These words are a powerful message of acceptance. They convey that everyone, regardless of background, is welcome, is valued, and belongs. As I stand with you today, my fellow life travellers, I’m reminded that this is the essence of what we do in our work—whether it’s therapy, coaching, or simply offering support to others. We all have the capacity to lift a light to one another and offer unconditional acceptance. It’s from this place that healing, growth, and transformation will unfold.

Did you know that the Statue doesn’t stand on two feet?  No, her right foot is raised, poised to step forward. This movement speaks to progress, to the ongoing pursuit of freedom and enlightenment. As Dave Eggers writes in his children’s book, Her Right Foot, the statue is not static—she is in motion. Her stride embodies the spirit of liberty, a reminder that progress is an active, constant journey.

This forward motion resonates deeply with the work we do at NeftTi. Just like Lady Liberty, we encourage stepping forward into a future full of possibility. In our Conscious EFT practice, when there is sufficient safety in the nervous system,  we focus on growth and transformation, helping individuals move past limitations and embrace their full potential. Our work is rooted in providing safety so that each person can grow with confidence, curiosity, and excitement, just as Lady Liberty steps forward toward freedom.

I invite you to reflect on your own journey. Celebrate the steps you’ve taken, no matter how small, and look ahead to the future with hope. This is a beautiful time to appreciate where you’ve come from and to set your intentions for the path ahead. Oprah Winfrey said it so well: “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”

Let us all take a step forward, like the Statue of Liberty, towards the freedom to grow, to heal, and to live with purpose.
